Asian Financial Corporation Announces Issuance of $66 Million of Senior Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock Under the Emergency Capital Investment Program

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – July 19, 2022 – Asian Financial Corporation (the “Company”), the holding company for Asian Bank, today announced that the Company completed a private placement of approximately $66 million of Senior Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock, Series A (the “Preferred Stock”), to the U.S. Department of the Treasury (“Treasury”) pursuant to the Emergency Capital Investment Program (“ECIP”) on June 7, 2022.

The ECIP investment by the Treasury is part of a program to invest over $8.7 billion into Community Development Financial Institutions (“CDFI”) or Minority Depository Institutions (“MDI”), of which Asian Bank is both. The ECIP is intended to incentivize CDFIs and MDIs to provide loans and support to small businesses, minority-owned businesses, and consumers in low-income and underserved communities, that may have been disproportionately impacted by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These essential funds provide opportunity to underserved communities across the country, helping them to regain their footing following the pandemic and strengthening their resilience against future shocks,” said Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen. “Today’s announcement is a significant step toward expanding access to the capital and services to rebuild and fuel long-term economic growth.”
